At 37x both galaxies appeared together slightly elongated. From 80x well separated, but touching each other. NGC3395 appears brighter & larger than NGC3396. Both appeared oval, evenly bright and evident with averted vision. Further details were not seen.

At 37x well seen with averted vision as fairly compact brightening. At 100x the relatively compact, bright, round & sharply defined core was seen with direct vision. With averted vision the core was surrounded by an evenly bright, faint, slightly oval halo (inner ring). The much more fainter outer ring was not visible.

bei 45x zeigt sich ein kleines kompaktes Nebelchen, das sich deutlich von den umgebenden Sternen unterscheidet - bei 72x ist die Galaxie dann direkt deutlich sichtbar mit Helligkeitszunahme zur Mitte hin, das Zentrum ist nicht stellar und scheint von einem sehr schwachen und diffusen Halo umgeben - bei 206x wirkt die Galaxie unregelmäßiger, die Außenbereiche sind noch schwerer zu erfassen
