Diamond Ring (AST)

../dss/dss2red_025000.00_+885000.00_90_web.jpg
Image source: DSS II (red) - 90×90'
Name: Diamond Ring, Engagement Ring
Type: AST
Constellation: UMi
Coordinates: 02h50m00.00s / +88°50'00.00"
Brightness / Size: - / 60.0x60.0'
Several faint stars form the ring and alpha UMi is the diamond. Very nice view in telescopes at low magnification. Visually much more apparent than on photographs.

Robert Zebahl
B 8x40, Bortle 8, NELM 4m3+, SQM-L 18.9
Alpha UMi was easily seen, but the ring itself was fairly faint.

MODERATE
B 8x40, Bortle 7, NELM 5m0, SQM-L 19.0
Well visible with averted vision. The typical ring form was quite easily seen.

EASY
80mm f/6.25, 33x, Bortle 8, NELM 4m3+, SQM-L 18.9
Quite evident. Nice view when consciously seen the diamond ring.
