M46 (OC)

DSS
© DSS II (red) - 35×35'
Name: M46, NGC2437
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 07h41m46.00s / -14°48'36.0"
Brightness / Size: v6.1 mag / 27.0×27.0'
120mm f/5, 18x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.1
SQM-L 20.3: Obviously fainter than Messier 47, but with much more members. Well condensed, partly resolved.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4+
Large, extremely rich cluster with many fainter and moderately bright stars. Very good contrast to the surrounding, concentrated toward the center, containing chains of stars. Very nice in combination with the embedded planetary NGC2438, which is located north of the center!

M47 (OC)

DSS
© DSS II (red) - 40×40'
Name: M47, NGC2422, H8.38
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 07h36m35.00s / -14°29'00.0"
Brightness / Size: v4.4 mag / 30.0×30.0'
120mm f/5, 18x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.1
SQM-L 20.3: Evident, loose cluster with good contrast to the surrounding. Consists of rather brighter stars.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4+
Some bright and moderately bright stars arranged in chains. No distinct concentration noticed, more scattered. Some stars appeared orange colored.
EASY

M93 (OC)

DSS
© DSS II (red) - 22×22'
Name: M93, NGC2447
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 07h44m30.00s / -23°51'24.0"
Brightness / Size: v6.2 mag / 22.0×22.0'
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 5+
Obvious due to high star density, but without a distinct center. Overall quite compact with many star chains.
EASY

NGC2413 (OC)

DSS
© DSS II (red) - 15×15'
Name: NGC2413, H8.52
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 07h33m18.00s / -13°04'00.0"
Brightness / Size: - / 10.0×10.0'
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4+
Overall a less evident, loose cluster. At 37x about 10 stars of medium brightness visible, at 80x some more fainter stars.
MODERATE

NGC2423 (OC)

DSS
© DSS I - 30×30'
Name: NGC2423, Melotte 70, H7.28
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 07h37m06.00s / -13°52'18.0"
Brightness / Size: v6.7 mag / 19.0×19.0'
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4+, NELM 6.0+, SQM-L 21.1
NELM 5.0+, SQM-L 20.2: More fainter members, relatively good contrast to the surrounding, smaller and especially less evident than nearby M47.
EASY

NGC2539 (OC)

DSS
© DSS II (red) - 30×30'
Name: NGC2539, Melotte 83, H7.11
Type: OC
Constellation: Pup
Coordinates: 08h10m37.00s / -12°49'06.0"
Brightness / Size: v6.5 mag / 22.0×22.0'
120mm f/5, 40x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.1
SQM-L 20.3: At 18x well visible with averted vision, rather faint, partly resolved. Located nearby 4.72 mag bright 19 Pup with good contrast to the surrounding. At 40x asymmetrical, very obvious with many star chains. Overall the cluster consists of more fainter members.
