The eastern NGC474 already shows impressively concentric rings. On long time exposures very complex structures came to the fore.

NGC470: Already visible at 66x with direct vision. At 100x oval, slightly brighter core, otherwise evenly bright.

NGC474: Already visible at 66x with direct vision. At 100x roundish, appeared smaller than NGC470, but similarly bright with relatively bright, distinct, compact center.

NGC379: Already seen at 80x as small brightening. 200x: oval shape.

NGC380: Barely seen at 80x as small nebular with averted vision. 200x: round shape.

NGC383: Brightest member. At 80x round with slightly brighter core. Well visible with averted vision.

NGC384: Very small, compact. Intermittently seen with averted vision. It took a while to see this faint galaxy. Already glimpsed while observing nearby NGC385.

NGC385: Small, compact. Intermittently seen with averted vision. A bit brighter than NGC384.

Arp157 also contains the faint galaxy UGC957, but NGC520 is much more interesting. UGC957 (b18.0m, 1.2x0.9') is located NNW of NGC520 and north of a fainter field star (see DSS image).

SQM-L 20.6: At 66x evenly bright, elongated, evident with averted vision. At 133x slight broadening toward the south end. The very faint extensions and the dark lane were not visible.
