Brightness / Size: v9.2 mag / 12.5x10.4'
B 40mm, 8x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5.7+, SQM-L 20.9

FAILED
4.5" f/8, 45x, Bortle 7
Very faint, roundish to slightly oval. Nearly evenly bright. Barely seen with averted vision. Observed from city.

DIFFICULT
8" f/6, 66x, Bortle 6+, NELM 5.0+, SQM-L 19.6
At 37x slight brightening toward the middle, oval, pretty large, diffusely fading. Overall rather faint. At 66x still faint, but barely visible with direct vision.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4
Large, faint, oval with brighter core area. Barely seen with direct vision. Better seen at 80x.
EASY

NGC278 (GLX)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 5×5'

MODERATE
8" f/6, 66x, Bortle 6+, NELM 5.0+, SQM-L 19.6
At 37x evident with averted vision, small, condensed. At 66x well visible with direct vision, pretty small.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5.7+, SQM-L 20.9
Evident with averted vision, barely seen with direct vision. Round, slight brightening toward the middle.
