M53 (GC)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 15×15'
Name: M53, NGC5024
Type: GC
Constellation: Com
Coordinates: 13h12m55.25s / +18°10'05.4"
Brightness / Size: v7.8 mag / 14.4×14.4'
B 40mm, 8x, NELM 4.3+
Relatively small, slight brightening toward the middle.

MODERATE
4.5" f/8, 28x, NELM 5.0
Moon (60% illuminated): Despite the rather low altitude of about 35° above the horizon the globular cluster was easily visible at 28x and very evident. It appeared round with much brighter center. Not resolvable.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5.8+, SQM-L 21.0
SQM-L 20.7: Very bright, extended and relatively sharply defined center. Outer regions much more fainter. At 150x the outer regions were resolved, the center was more granulous.

NGC4147 (GC)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 5×5'
Name: NGC4147, NGC4153, H1.19
Type: GC
Constellation: Com
Coordinates: 12h10m06.15s / +18°32'31.8"
Brightness / Size: v10.3 mag / 4.0×4.0'
80mm f/6.25, 41x, Bortle 7, NELM 5.0, SQM-L 19.3
At 25x quite compact brightening. At 41x round, slight brightening toward the middle.

MODERATE
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.0
SQM-L 20.7: Round, relatively compact brightening. Still visible with direct vision.
