IC349 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 5×5'
Name: IC349, Barnard's Merope Nebula
Group: Pleiades
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 03h46m21.30s / +23°56'28.00"
Brightness / Size: v13.0 mag / 0.5x0.5'
IC349 is a very small, interstellar dust cloud, which passes the bright star Merope deforming the nebula. Visually very challenging due to the short angular distance. Unfortunately the nebula isn't visible on the alongside DSS image.

8" f/6, 200x, Bortle 4
Only tried short with a 6mm ortho.
FAILED

M1 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 8×8'
Name: M1, NGC1952, Crab Nebula
Type: BN, EN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 05h34m31.94s / +22°00'52.20"
Brightness / Size: v8.4 mag / 8.0x4.0'
B 40mm, 8x, Bortle 7, NELM 4.5, SQM-L 18.9
SQM-L 18.5: Only a miserable try ;-)

FAILED
B 40mm, 8x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5.7+, SQM-L 20.9
Relatively small, roundish, evenly bright. Fairly well seen with averted vision.

MODERATE
4.5" f/8, 28x, Bortle 6
Obvious as slightly oval, evenly bright nebula.

EASY
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 5
At 37x oval, evenly bright. Near the edges slight darkening outwardly. At 100x irregular shape. Slight differences in brightness within the nebula were guessable. At 150x mottled. On the eastern edge I could saw a dark notch with averted vision.

NGC1435 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 45×45'
Name: NGC1435, Merope Nebula
Group: Pleiades
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 03h46m00.00s / +23°54'00.00"
Brightness / Size: - / 30.0x30.0'
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4
Located south of Merope, fan-shaped, broadly blending into the background, slightly curved. After longer observation the nebula was obvious with averted vision. It's useful to compare this region with the more darker surroundings!

NGC1555 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 5×5'
Name: NGC1555, HH155, Hind's Variable Nebula
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 04h21m57.10s / +19°32'07.00"
Brightness / Size: - / -
8" f/6, 171x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.0
At 150x & 171x without success.

vdB20 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 20×20'
Name: vdB20, Electra Nebula
Group: Pleiades
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 03h44m52.00s / +24°06'48.00"
Brightness / Size: - / -
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4
Quite easily visible as diffuse halo around Electra.
EASY

vdB23 (BN)

DSS
© DSS II (blue) - 35×35'
Name: vdB23, Alcyone Nebula
Group: Pleiades
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Tau
Coordinates: 03h47m29.00s / +24°06'18.00"
Brightness / Size: - / 27.0x27.0'
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4
Apparent halo around Alcyone, towards north a bit brighter. Appeared smaller than the Merope Nebula.
